JAKARTA – Giant outlet managed by PT Hero Supermarket Tbk (HERO) officially closed today Sunday (1/8/2021). HERO’s management stated that they are fully committed to treating all employees with empathy and respect during this time of portfolio changes.
A former employee of Giant Dramaga Bogor Aji (31), said he had no more offers from HERO management and he now chose to become an online motorcycle taxi.
“I’m an ojol resident now. Thank God I get severance pay (from Giant) especially for those who have worked for more than 5 years, it’s pretty good,” he told MNC Portal Indonesia (MPI).
According to Aji, the severance pay he received was sufficient for his family when he took a taxi. Moreover, regarding the nominal, he gave the example of his sister-in-law who works in the Giant area of South Tangerang, receiving a severance pay of Rp. 100 million.

“My sister-in-law has worked at Giant for almost 8 years in the South Tangerang branch, yesterday she said she got 100 million not the same as the BPJS money that was disbursed, and the money was saved for the education needs of her children when they were adults,” he said.
Aji also admitted that he did not want to be involved in the retail sector anymore considering the pandemic was not over yet.

“There’s a pandemic like this, so it’s more fortunate for me to take a gofood taxi, it’s quite busy around Bogor,” he said.
