Get scheduled! Live opera returns to movie theaters

Going to see opera in the cinema is a plan that you may not know about, but that has many followers for several reasons. These are live and HD broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera from New Yorkwhere the best works and the best lyrical singing artists in the world are presented.

“This season can be enjoyed in Colombia in 8 theaters in the country, in Bogotá in Andino, Av. Chile, Unicentro and Gran Estación, in Cali in Chipichape and Unicali and in Medellín in Santafé and Viva Envigado (at 12:00 p.m. ),” they detailed from Cine Colombia.

The works

The first one that will be seen and heard this Saturday is Hoffmann’s tales by Jacques Offenbach, “starring French tenor Benjamin Bernheim in the title role of the tormented poet. Joining Bernheim are American soprano Erin Morley as Olympia, South African soprano Pretty Yende as Antonia and French mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine as Giulietta to complete Hoffmann’s trio of lovers.”

The next one will be Grounded by Jeanine Tesori on Saturday, October 19 and will follow Tosca by Giacomo Puccini on November 23.

“Live in HD was created to connect to the Metropolitan Opera with a global audience of lifelong opera fans and newcomers through the communal experience of seeing the Met live in theaters. The series continues to inspire audiences 18 years later. A varied repertoire, brilliant conducting talent, a new vanguard of opera stars: it is the recipe for an unforgettable season,” commented Metropolitan Opera President Peter Gelb.
