Yesterday, Ubisoft launched Riders Republic, an open-world multiplayer extreme sports game, and while we’re currently preoccupied with the action as we conduct our review, we thought we’d put together a short guide to make sure you’re ready and ready for the upcoming Tackle the wild world this weekend. While Riders Republic is designed to be fun and enjoyable the way you want to, there are a few things you can do differently to account for your becoming a more effective and skilled star, so be sure to check out some of the handy tips and tricks below.
There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to racer or cheater control schemes
Right now, before you start your rider adventure, you’ll be asked to choose a riding style between two options, racer and trickster. Racer gives you better control of your movements and even enables you to manipulate camera angles, but at the cost of less creative trickery. Trickster is basically the opposite, and framed as a more challenging way to play.
While Trickster does have a higher skill ceiling and will give you the chance to knock your competitors out of the water with rough tricks, Racer still allows you to show off your talents, just in a way that’s less prone to failure.

The point is, there is no wrong answer when it comes to choosing a control scheme. Both are effective and very usable, and we encourage you to choose a style that you are most comfortable with, as the overall rider experience will be more engaging in the long run.
But… manual landing is a must
Having said that, turning off autoland is an absolute must. Being able to push your rider to the limit to rack up some super points is crucial, and while getting used to manual landings will make you eat dirt more often when you’re figuring it out, it will change the way you approach trick events.

If you’re wondering what the main difference between manual and autolanding is; manual requires you to time your rotations and tricks to be able to land them instead of rescue, losing all points in the process. Auto largely does this for you, making you far less likely to crash, but it also takes away some of the wacky, extreme nature of the rider, which is often where the game’s charm germinates.
Stay away from crowds during races and mass races
Cheating aside, one of the biggest parts that Riders Republic brings to the table is race. There’s a whole bunch of different kinds, and each mission puts you on your toes until you cross the finish line, whether it’s on snow, dirt, or in the air. In most cases, the best way to win these is to make sure you don’t crash, as bailing takes a lot of your momentum away and causes you to waste time rebuilding it, but a handy trick to reduce your chances of bailing is to simply stay away from other racers, or in massive races, the whole package.
Although Riders Republic uses the ghost system a lot of the time, your opponents in the race are tangible, which means you can collide with them and get knocked off course, or worse, crashed. For a typical professional race it’s not a problem because there are fewer competitors, but when it comes to mass racing and there are tons of drivers all fighting each other, if you try to hang on you will have a problem.
spread. outside. That’s the trick. Stay away from other racers and do your best to keep your distance from the crowd so you can commit to your line without worrying about battling one with the other racers.
Stick to third person for tricks and aerial activities
One of the most exciting aspects of Riders Republic is that you can switch seamlessly between first-person and third-person camera angles. In general, we encourage you to switch between the pairs often, as they do change the feel of Riders Republic, but when it comes to aerial activities and trick events, we recommend sticking to third-person.
the reason is simple. Tricks are performed in the third person anyway, and being able to have a consistent view is useful in the event you need to trick often.
As for aerial events, first person can be a double-edged sword. Zooming in on canyons and treelines through the rider’s eyes looks and feels incredible, but when you’re traveling over 100km/h, scraping a rogue branch or jagged rock can cause you to crash in an instant. As first person, it can be difficult to grasp the distance limits to objects and obstacles, which is why third person is definitely our suggestion for aerial activities.
