Jakarta –
The basic non-subsidized electricity tariff (TDL) today, Saturday (25/06/2022) is still being monitored. Even so, as of July 1, 2022, the government will begin to impose an increase in the basic electricity tariff for non-subsidized customers, namely customers with a power of 3,500 Volt Ampere (VA) and above. This rate adjustment was finally made after 5 years of detention.
The basic electricity tariff is determined by PLN with reference to the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia NO. 28 of 2016. Since 2017, there has never been an increase in electricity rates for all customer tariff groups. Until finally this tariff increase will be carried out for the period July-September 2022.
Before the decision to increase this was made, from 2017 until 2021 the government provided assistance in the form of subsidies and compensation to all customer groups. In fact, to keep prices stable, the government has disbursed an electricity subsidy of Rp. 243.3 trillion, plus compensation of Rp. 94.17 trillion. So the total is Rp. 337.47 trillion.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that the tariff adjustment was carried out in order to realize a fair electricity tariff in which compensation was given to the people who were entitled to it, while the people were able to pay the electricity tariff according to their economy.
“The application of compensation is returned to the government’s philosophy of aid, which is aimed at poor families. This is not an increase in tariffs. This is an adjustment, in which the assistance or compensation must be received by families who are entitled to receive it,” Darmawan said in a written statement.
Furthermore, the adjustment of PLN’s basic electricity tariff applies to 5 groups of non-subsidized customers. Customers experiencing tariff adjustments include household customers of 3,500 VA and above and government customers.
The increase is for household customers R2 with a power of 3,500VA to 5,500VA, and R3 with a power of 6,600VA and above. The tariff increased from Rp. 1,444.70/kWh to Rp. 1,699.53/kWh.
