Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Singapore government will open access to the Vaccine Travel Route (VTL) scheme to migrants from Indonesia and several countries. This allows travelers from Indonesia to enter the country without quarantine.
Quotes Straits Times, this was conveyed directly by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) on Monday (15/11/2021). For Indonesia and India, the VTL will take effect from 29 November and for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Saudi Arabia from 6 December.
“CAAS and the Ministry of Health are closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation around the world and in each VTL country, and will adjust actions if necessary,” he said.
With this scheme, tourists can submit negative test results from either a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab test or a professionally administered antigen rapid test. When they arrive in Singapore, visitors only need to do one more test. If the results are negative, they will be immediately released to visit.
Minister of Transportation S. Iswaran said during a press conference by the multi-ministerial Covid-19 task force that the countries that Singapore will open are all important destinations. For example, India accounted for about 7% of passenger arrivals at Changi Airport in 2019.
So far, Indonesia, along with India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are in Category Two of the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 risk classification for border measures.
Previously, Singapore had opened this VTL with 16 other countries. Thirteen of these are already in effect, and three more with Malaysia, Sweden and Finland set to start on November 29.
