Louisiana’s famous chicken restaurant, Popeyes, comes to Indonesia. Through PT Sari Chicken, a subsidiary of PT Sari Burger which is also the Restaurants Brand Asia (RBA) business group, this chicken restaurant is all set to serve its main menu of fried chicken to Indonesians.
Popeyes Louisiana pre-event launch was held at Horizon Tower, Jl. MH Thamrin, Jakarta on Friday today (12/23/2022). This location is the Popeyes Indonesia branch for Jakarta and is located in the city center.
Of note, Popeyes itself is the largest fried chicken fast food restaurant in the world and is found in more than 30 countries with more than 3,900 branches. Established in 1972, Popeyes offers a distinctive flavor of Louisiana chicken that incorporates a mix of authentic cooking styles, ingredients and seasonings.
“In a country where people like fried chicken very much and rice is a staple, we want to pamper Indonesian consumers with the best flavorful fried chicken and offer a variety of chicken menus. Our vision is that to become Indonesia’s chicken destination,” said Popeyes Indonesia President Sandeep Dey.
Furthermore, he stated that the reason Popeyes was present in Indonesia was because the Indonesian people conformed to the values of the people of Louisiana, namely having a warm heart, full of enthusiasm, having a good soul and loving others.

Before deciding to introduce Popeyes to Indonesia, Sandeep learned about food in Indonesia, what the culture is like, as well as the markets. Upon learning this, he decided to bring Popeyes and was ready to serve fried chicken with various variations of the fried chicken menu that Indonesians like.
Also, all menu variations in Popeyes Indonesia are made with high manufacturing standards, both in terms of ingredients and manufacturing process.
“What makes us unique is that we have a unique cooking technology. When you have the perfect product, it’s made of good ingredients that meet a unique cooking technology,” said Sandeep.
Sandeep also said that because Indonesians like chicken very much and Popeyes has fried chicken with unique taste, he is confident of opening 300 branches in Indonesia.
“I am confident, we will not only open 1,2,5 or 10 branches, but we will open 300 branches,” he said.
“What we need is your love for chickens. I hope we can meet on December 29 at the branch opening in Margo City, Depok, West Java when we are open for all,” he said.
Meanwhile, Popeyes parent company Restaurant Brand International (RBI) Asia Pacific president Rafel Odorizzi said his group was excited to bring Popeyes to Indonesia to show its commitment to serving more consumers around the world.
“Peyes’ presence in Indonesia illustrates our commitment to serving more consumers around the world with a uniquely flavorful New Orleans-style menu,” he said.
Not only bringing the delights of fried chicken from Louisiana, Popeyes will also bring the spirit of Louisiana to Indonesia, i.e. spreading joy through food and jazz music. The atmosphere shows the value of a big heart and the enthusiasm of being together.
For your information, Popeyes Indonesia serves a variety of fried chicken with a variety of flavours. Bringing in chefs directly from abroad, India being one of them, Popeyes has explored and created flavors that will appeal to Indonesians. Starting from the taste of Indonesia, the typical spicy taste of Korea, the savory taste of Japan, are all present in the proposed menu variants.
Popeyes Indonesia also has a Chicken Sandwich or burger filled with crunchy crispy chicken. Other than that, there is also boneless chicken which is prepared with a blend of buttermilk to make it very tender and delicious.
To enjoy the delights of Popeyes Indonesian Chicken, wait for it to arrive in your city. In the near future, Popeyes will also open outlets in Kelapa Gading, Depok, Karawaci, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) and Bintaro areas. The first gate will open in Margo City, Depok on December 29, 2022.
