jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Human rights activists Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti will not remain silent on the determination of their status as suspects in defamation cases.
The two activists will drag the Polda Metro Jaya and Luhut Binsar Panjaitan to court.
The Advocacy Team for Democracy, Nurkholis Hidayat, said that his party would take this step after Haris and Fatia’s efforts to provide information during the investigation as suspects at the Polda Metro Jaya were ignored by investigators.
“If all these internal mechanisms continue to be ignored or ineffective, we will deal with them in the trial process, in court, and we will file a pretrial,” he said at an online press conference, Saturday (19/3).
Nurkholis stated that before his two clients were named as suspects, Haris and Fatia have made various efforts to stop Luhut’s report.
Not only that, the two activists have offered other legal steps since the start of the investigation into the case. However, he said, the police always ignored him.
“We have previously applied for an examination or review which led to our logical request to ask for a legal, legal termination of this case, and we have asked several institutions, in this case the police, internal supervisors, and external investigators,” he explained.
In addition, Nurkholis said that his party had asked the prosecutor’s office as the investigator’s supervisor to examine the elements of accountability in the investigation so far.
