Astronomy enthusiasts are preparing to welcome the last giant moon of the year 2023, next week, which bears the name “Harvest Moon,” according to “Business Insider.” The giant full moon will adorn Earth’s skies on Friday, September 29, as the full moon will appear closer and brighter than the usual full moon. The supermoon is a type of full moon, which can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than the typical full moon in the months of the year, because it is located at its closest point to Earth, called perigee, according to NASA. A full moon bears this. The month is called the “Harvest Moon,” and it is known as the full moon that occurs with the approach of the autumnal equinox in September every year. This certainly means the end of summer and the official entry into autumn. It is called the “Harvest Moon” because it occurs when farmers in the Northern Hemisphere are ready to harvest their crops before winter arrives.
The best time to see the “giant harvest moon” will be when the moon rises. When the moon is close to the horizon, objects in front of it, such as trees and rocks, can provide a sense of the massive size of the supermoon.
