New Yorkers are preparing for an extraordinary experience.
This is the solar eclipse that will occur on Monday afternoon and occurs when the moon passes over the sun, darkening the sky.
Here in the City we will have a partial eclipse.
The total format includes parts of the northern part of the state and some nearby states.
This map shows the path of the total solar eclipse that will take place around 3 p.m.
This Saturday, a community solar eclipse workshop was held at NYCHA’s Dyckman Community Center in Upper Manhattan.
There public housing residents learned more about this phenomenon and how to see it using special glasses.
Additionally, an amateur astronomer demonstrated how to use a solar telescope.
