The eighth edition of the tattoo party has a lot of our talent
The fastest growing festival in recent years without a doubt is Tattoo Music Fest. In its eighth edition, which will be held on May 20, 21 and 22 north of Bogotá, more than sixty groups will perform, among which we find international legends and the national scene along with new promises. All this while 300 tattoo artists will exhibit the best of their art on the skin.
For those who know this party or who have not yet attended for the first time, it is important to mention that there is a festive atmosphere with a lot of action on the stages, and in them the sets forged in our country are very important. In fact, when Tattoo Music Fest started in 2015, local bands were its first letter of introduction.
With the interest that you are encouraged to see what the musicians of our country have to offer, we present a selection of ten names that are well worth taking a look at. BLOOD MAY RISE – Saturday, May 20 – TMF Stage Pro – 2:00 pm
This quintet originally from the city of Medellín has been working since 2011. Their proposal combines metalcore with elements of djent. His first EP was released in 2012 under the title “Gloam”, followed five years later by another EP called “Verticale”. His lyrics are influenced by cyber punk and Asian culture. Currently the band will prepare the release of a third EP from which they have already released several singles. In 2021 they were protagonists in the Speaker Festival held in their hometown.
STEELBREATH – Saturday, May 20 – Broken Stage Pro – 2:15 pm
This is a thrash quartet from the capital that has been working since 2004. “Sed de thrash” was their recording debut as an EP and was released in 2014. Four years later their first full length “Bacattáck” appeared, a production with ten songs to the jugular. In 2022 the band presented the single ‘Ride Fast, Never Last’. Steelbreath was one of those in charge of opening this year’s concert by the Danish group Artillery.
PERPETUAL WARFARE – Saturday, May 20 – Broken Stage Pro – 4:40 pm
This set is one of the most outstanding of the national thrash metal movement. Their powerful live shows, the firmness of their followers and the quality of their productions have put them at the forefront. The group has a history that led them to open for Slayer in their last show in our country in 2017. Perpetual Warfare is currently doing a South American tour in the company of the American group Whiplash. There are three long-playing ones that he has put on the market, being “Earthliens” from 2018 the most recent of all.
SURVIVING – Saturday, May 20 – TMF Stage Pro – 7:40 pm
This sextet from Bogotá is committed to nu-metal with elements of punk and extreme metal. The band was created in 2015 and since then it has had constant activity on stage that has led it to take part in festivals like Car Audio Rock Festival, Ibagué Ciudad Rock, Hell and Heaven in Mexico and more recently to open for the Ukrainians Jinjer. on his way through the capital. Surviving sings to the everyday, and to those people who are no longer in the lives of its members. He has an EP available with three songs called “When the Sun Sets from West to East”.
DECIMATION – Sunday, May 21 – Broken Stage Pro – 2:45 pm
This is a death metal quintet formed in 2016 in the capital. Five years later his first and one production to date sees the light: “Flesh of Threachery”, an album with nine songs. The band appeared this year as the opening act for the British Benediction.
HYBRID MINDS – Sunday, May 21 – Broken Stage Pro – 3:30 pm
This is a melodic death metal band created in 2010. Their first EP was titled “Don’t Cross the Line” and it was released in 2011. Four years later their first album was released under the name “The Glamor of Divinities “. Hybrid Minds opened the Slayer show in Bogotá in 2011 and also took part in the Rock al Parque festival that same year.
PHOENIX – Sunday, May 21 – TMF Stage Pro – 2:45 pm
This quartet emerged in 2014 in the city of Cartagena and is played by thrash with elements of groove. He has two albums on the market: “Predatory” (2017) and “Rotten Society” (2019). More recently he released a single called ‘Venom In Blood’. Last year Fenix was in charge of opening for the brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera in their show in tribute to the album “Roots” in the capital.
ESTADUR – Sunday, May 21 – TMF Stage Pro – 4:20 pm
From the city of Pereira, this group has been working steadily since 2005. Theirs is melodic death metal and to date they have released four studio albums. The most recent of them is “From the Abyss” (2020). At the beginning of this year Eshtadur was the representative of our country on the prestigious 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise.
MASSACRE – Sunday, May 21 – TMF Stage Pro – 7:10 pm
One of the emblematic sets of national metal. Formed 35 years ago in the city of Medellín, they have led the way with superb death metal albums such as “Reqviem” (1991), “Sacro” (1996) or “Muerte verdadera muerte” (2001). Masacre has led the most important festivals in our country, and opened Slayer’s first concert in our country in 2006. The group recently went on a successful tour of the old continent.
LUPUUS – Monday, May 22nd – TTMF Stage Pro – 4:00 pm
This is a serious representative of Bogotá punk that has been working for more than a decade. Their defiant and corrosive sound has made them a cult name in the underground. The band has played in Europe and has a discography consisting of four albums. The last of them is “Delirium” (2022).
