May’s Red Day bonanza continues with another long weekend next week. And if we are to believe the meteorologists’ forecasts, we can only rejoice (in the south and east).
– Some forecasts believe that we will start to approach the 30s at the end of Pentecost. It can get very hot, says meteorologist on duty Bente Wahl at the Meteorological Institute.
But in our elongated country it is a rarity that everyone gets the same good weather outlook. That also applies now.
– There is no doubt that it is Southern and Eastern Norway that will have the best weather overall this week.
With the exception of slightly lower temperatures on a few days in the middle of the week, and also a gray weather day on Tuesday, it will mostly be sun and blue skies until Whitsun there. A lot of sun will also mean that the small drop in temperatures will not be felt so well, the meteorologist believes.
Flood risk: – Must be prepared
Good start throughout the country
However, there is bad weather news for Northern Norway and Central Norway. But we’ll start with a good one:
– Northern Norway will have a very nice day on Monday. They haven’t had very good weather, but the temperatures will be quite high, says Wahl.
In Tromsø, the temperature can creep up to 17-18 degrees – or higher.
– It can quickly get up to 20 degrees in the north.
It will also be good in central Norway, and in Trøndelag, for example, temperatures can reach 25 degrees.
Similar weather conditions are largely present throughout the country at the start of the week, and it is likely to be good, warm and fine throughout the country, according to Wahl.
– Horrible
But then something happens. A strong low pressure will put a strong dampener on the summer atmosphere in the north.
– There will be a lot of wind and rain in Northern Norway and Central Norway from Wednesday/Thursday. There may be snow in the mountains again, and it looks pretty awful, says the meteorologist and adds:
– So new tomorrow.
After a good start to the coming week, it will also be considerably cooler throughout the week in Western Norway, according to the meteorologist’s forecasts.
South of Stad, the weather will be a bit “off and on”, with occasional rainfall.
– This is how it will be in Bergen, for example, before towards the end of Whitsun it looks quite good again. Then there are opportunities for good weather and it will be warmer again.
In the north, however, it will remain cool until after Whitsun, says the meteorologist.
Warns heat wave
Thunderstorm
Wahl also cannot rule out that a warning for thunder will be issued at the start of the coming week.
It is especially on Monday afternoon and Tuesday that there may be some thunderstorms.
– Southern and Eastern Norway in particular can get thunder on Monday afternoon. For now, there are relatively small areas of lightning and thunder, and the showers are not that powerful, but we cannot rule out that there will be a warning if that changes, says Wahl.
