It is expected that Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin will be gradually affected by a depression accompanied by relatively cold air masses, bringing with it rain, torrents, and thunderstorms at the end of next week.
In this context, weather specialist Father Elie Khneisser confirmed that “Lebanon is facing a rapid storm that will not exceed 20 hours, but it will bring with it heavy torrential rains.”
In an interview with Lebanon Debate, Khneisser said: “The percentage of precipitation is expected to range between 25 and 55 mm. The storm will begin gradually from Saturday evening and continue until Monday morning, and it will be accompanied by winds reaching 100 km/h.”
But Khneisser adds, “The depression may change its course, so a detailed bulletin will be issued tomorrow, Friday, in an attempt to update these data 40 hours before the depression arrives so that the information is accurate, and in the event that the pressure movement remains the same.”
He pointed out that “the rain situation for the current winter season will be excellent, and this year will bring with it many good things, and it is expected that a series of depressions will hit Lebanon.”
It is noteworthy that “the temperature on the coast ranges from 17 to 23 degrees, above the mountains from 9 to 19 degrees, inland from 12 to 21 degrees, surface winds, south to southwesterly, with a speed between 10 and 30 km/h, as for the relative humidity on the coast.” It ranges between 40 and 60%.
