The Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria submitted to the records of the 47th National Assembly a request for waiver of the immunity of the Member of Parliament RS (bel. av. – Rena Stefanova from PP on “We continue the changeKiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev presented their political project “We continue the change”“).
On 13.12.2021 the pre-trial proceedings for a crime under Art. 343a, para. 1, in conjunction with Art. 343, para. 1 p. “B”, ex. 2 of the Penal Code. On a pedestrian path in violation of the Road Traffic Act RS hit a woman crossing, causing her moderate bodily harm.
In the course of the investigation, evidence was gathered that R.S. has committed the crime subject to the pre-trial proceedings.
By decision of the CEC of 19.11.2021, R.S. has been declared a Member of Parliament and, after taking the oath, is a person with immunity. In this regard, the pre-trial proceedings were accepted by the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.
The initiated pre-trial proceedings may continue only with the permission of the National Assembly or with the written consent of the RS, according to Art. 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and according to art. 135, para 3, in conjunction with para 1 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly.
