Verhulst never avoids the taboo in ‘De Tafel van Gert’. During a conversation with doctors Servaas Bingé and Guy T’Sjoen about the use of Ozempic in Belgium, the presenter admits that he has also used the controversial drug, in pill form. “I took it for a month. And then I quickly lost a kilo a week.”
He says he has not had any side effects. But the fact that the drug is actually intended to help diabetes patients bothered Verhulst. Especially because there is a scarcity. “People for whom it was intended could no longer get hold of it. I immediately got a bad feeling about it.” In the meantime, Verhulst no longer takes Ozempic.
Ozempic is actually a medicine for type 2 diabetes, which ensures that your blood sugar levels remain normal. “A satiety hormone,” Guy T’Sjoen calls it in ‘Gert’s Table’. It can be used as a syringe, but can also be swallowed as a pill. The active substance semaglutide causes a decrease in appetite, and for that reason it has become very popular as a slimming aid. This also applies to celebrities, and apparently BVs.
