Gert Verhulst replaces Viktor Verhulst: ‘We have often had discussions about this’

The new season of De Verhulstjes has now been running for three weeks and is attracting a large audience not only in Flanders, but also in the Netherlands. The reality series about the Verhulst family is very popular, and according to Gert Verhulst, the reactions are very positive.

The series is also broadcast in our northern neighbours, where the Verhulstjes have a growing fan base. “We have already received hundreds of positive responses,” says Gert RTL Boulevard. “They’re almost all positive ideas.” Their success seems to be increasing, in part due to this season’s impressive appearance.

Sarah and Joey in the spotlight

One of the surprises this season is that Sarah Puttemans, Viktor’s girlfriend, is a fan of Antwerp. Although she does not have a leading role, her participation was noticeable. “She’s making a fuss,” said Gert, “She happened to be at our house when I became an honorary citizen, and that’s how she ended up.”

Sarah’s dog, Joey, also received some unexpected attention. “That dog was even more amazing than her,” Gert jokes. But he has doubts about raising the animal perfectly, but I see it differently.”

According to Gert, Joey is anything but calm. “He jumps from here to there and is just hyperactive. You can’t do anything with it. By the way, Joey is also part of the show this season – and he’s quite a presence.”
