Recently Gert Verhulst and James Cooke had to say goodbye to their beloved cook Annie Deleersnyder (75). A loss that the two men will not soon get over.

“She was 75, that’s young,” says Gert Verhulst in an interview with Story. “Two weeks before her death, we knew she was ill, but not that it was that bad. It made me very sad. I also don’t know if we can make another season of ‘Gert Late Night’ without Annie. That would feel strange.”
Annie Deleersnyder died of cancer at the end of August. Before she made her way to Gert and James, she ran a fisherman’s cafe in Oostduinkerke for years. When she appeared on TV she became a phenomenon. She was recognized everywhere, had to sign autographs and even released a cookbook.
