Gersul, who is chaired by the deputy for the economic area, Santiago Dorado, thus frees himself from a relevant part of the financial burden, which represents more than 55% of the total debt that the garbage consortium maintains with the company that manages the disposal of waste at the San Román treatment center.
To download this commitment, the Provincial Council, the institution that supervises the administration of the consortium after the modification of the statutes of this body, signed a bank loan, which rounds the amount of those thirteen million euros, and which also entails a relief on the amortization and interests derived from this overdraft. Gersul now manages to save 26,000 euros per month among the interests it paid monthly to the union of companies that handle the management of garbage in the province of León.
“The current government team of the Diputación has thus managed to liquidate, therefore, more than half of this historical debt of Gersul,” said Santiago Dorado on the result of the financial operation that was closed a part of months ago, the agreement , and it has been carried out this week, with the payment of the thick package to cover debt dragged from a dozen years ago.

Dorado also referred to the pending account with the garbage service companies. An amount of 10 million euros that remains to be paid, with the certainty that the provincial administration, together with the three large municipalities of the province, works so that in the coming months it can be paid, and thus bury half a decade of blockade.
