The New York Yankees rotation was very affected after the injury of star Gerrit Cole and that is why they decided to reinforce their pitching.

The right-handed starter agreed to a one-year, $2,275,000 contract in January and was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Feb. 19 by the Pirates.

Brubaker, 30, went 3-12 with a 4.69 ERA in 28 appearances with the Pirates in 2022. He set career highs with 28 starts, 144 innings and 147 strikeouts.
“What catches my attention the most is not only JT Brubaker, the pitcher, but also the human being”said Pirates manager Derek Shelton.
“At any charity event we had, he and his wife were always there. They were always involved and I think that speaks to who the human being is. “Sometimes the company gets involved and you make trades, but I will always appreciate and always be a fan of JT Brubaker.”
Brubaker was selected by the Pirates out of Akron in the sixth round of the 2015 amateur draft.
With Gerrit Cole out for at least 60 days due to his injury, the Yankees have a starting rotation consisting of Néstor Cortés, Carlos Rodón, Marcus Stroman, Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil.
It is likely that the New York organization will seek to give Brubaker a place among its relievers. Among the star pitchers in this situation are Jonathan Loáisiga, Ian Hamilton, and Víctor Gonzales.
The situation is complicated because Tommy Kahnle, Scott Effros, Loui Trivino and McKinley Moore started the season on the injured list.
