Gerri Eickhof becomes an ‘outsider’ in the NOS YouTube series ‘Rondje Binnenhof’. And Martin Sommer said goodbye to the Volkskrant but is not leaving journalism: Sommer started as a columnist at EW. This and more in the Transfer Thursday, in which Villamedia follows developments in the journalistic labor market. Last modified: October 12, 2023, 11:55 AM
Nicky Toet is the new presenter of the television program Taarten van Abel, Toet reports on Instagram. ‘One of the best children’s programs of the past 20 years. I can now take over the rolling pin from Siemon (Abel), who has presented it wonderfully for 20 years. I think I have very big shoes to fill now that he has retired. That’s a good thing, because I have a size 48 and luckily I have his blessing.
With the House of Representatives elections approaching, NOS’s YouTube series ‘Rondje Binnenhof’ is also being brought back to life. That only caused one problem: Herman van der Zandt recently left for the KRO-NCRV to present ‘The Smartest’ there from 2025. And who would follow his role – of ‘relative outsider’, as the NOS calls it? News reporter Gerri Eickhof will soon also be available on YouTube. “We think that Gerri, with his strong personality and sharp observations, can contribute a lot now that he can follow this election campaign up close,” say Marleen de Rooy and Xander van der Wulp, the regular faces of the YouTube series.
Julyan Kuijer stops at Argus Productions, where he was video editor for AD. Kuijer will remain within the AD: he started as an online editor at the AD Rotterdams Dagblad, writes Kuijer.
This summer took Martin Sommer farewell to de Volkskrant, the newspaper for which he worked in various positions from 1987. But Sommer (67), despite his retirement age, does not stop writing columns. He will continue writing in EW, the weekly magazine announces. Arendo Joustra, editor-in-chief EW: ‘We are very happy that Sommer will write for us. His observations of political culture are sharp, he is erudite, knows what is wrong with the government, looks beyond the border and uses a historical perspective just as easily.’ In retrospect, it was bound to happen: in July of this year Sommer already gave a major interview to EW.
Nadia Moussaid returns with her talk show, albeit in a different form. ‘Nadia’ was shown for some time this year in the 7:00 PM timeslot on NPO 1, with poor viewing figures. The program can be seen every Sunday from October 22 at 9:50 PM on NPO 3. ‘Nadia Moussaid returns to a vibrant studio and discusses contemporary topics with high-profile guests from all corners of society. Every episode, experts by experience discuss issues that concern them with each other and the audience. The conversation continues online,” VPRO reports.
Cyrine Beune starts working at Follow the Money. ‘From November 1, I will join the woo desk of Follow the Money! This means: obtaining government documents, writes she.
At NRC Felix Voogt started as a data journalist. He is thus saying goodbye to research platform Investico.
As of today, I am starting a new job: as a data journalist at @nrc.
Here I look for the news and research stories that are hidden in figures, lists, maps or tables. I’m really looking forward to it and am grateful for four wonderful years @_investico— Felix Voogt (@FelixVoogt) October 9, 2023
This week took Peer Ulijn retired from the NOS as a reporter after 26 years. Ulijn’s last item was about the exhibition on the Middle Ages that opens this week in the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden. After the item, news presenter Rob Trip praised Ulijn for his ‘unique style and his own language’.
Finally takes Diane Beijer farewell to the NVJ as member administration employee. From January 1, 2024, Beijer will be the new publisher of GeenStijl.
