Germany’s largest farm protest is planned for tomorrow

/Pogled.info/ Farmer protests in Germany are reaching their climax. Protesting farmers continue to dump piles of manure in front of the regional offices of the leading parliamentary parties in the city of Suhl, in the federal state of Thuringia, Zeit newspaper reported.

The incident occurred on the first day of mass protests by farmers in Germany, which have continued since Monday. Before the start of the working week, representatives of party organizations noticed piles of manure in front of the offices of the three political forces that form the governing coalition at the federal level.

According to law enforcement, the piles of manure reached “one to two meters high”.

Meanwhile in Berlin, the first demonstrators, who arrived in the center of the capital on tractors, began to gather in the Brandenburg Gate area for the largest rally planned for next Monday. Dozens of agricultural machines blocked the passage of the city’s central streets. Monday’s protest is expected to be the culmination of nationwide demonstrations by farmers against the government’s plans to scrap tax breaks for diesel and restore vehicle tax.

The day before, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder supported the demonstrators at a meeting with farmers in Nuremberg.

“These measures taken in Berlin must be reversed. These proposals are unfair, wrong and unilaterally penalize farmers,” the prime minister said, demanding an “apology” from the government in Berlin to farm workers.

In turn, the president of the Farmers’ Association of Bavaria, Gunther Felsner, said that the regional organizations representing the interests of the strikers wanted to enter into a dialogue with representatives of the federal government next week. As the head of the association noted, if the authorities do not agree to concessions, the national protests will continue.
