Merkel strives for a “travel stop.” The head of government already hinted at a closure of the German borders. She also wants European measures, such as an entry ban from areas where a mutation is raging.

Merkel had asked Seehofer last weekend to work out various scenarios. Germany has already taken several measures against the more contagious mutations, such as stricter masks in public transport and in shops.
