Germany wants to register Russian vaccine Sputnik V against coronavirus

Prime Minister Saxony Michael Kretschmer said that Russia, as a “great country in the field of science”, is undoubtedly able to produce an effective vaccine. He is confident that Sputnik V should be registered for use in the EU.

At the same time, the head of government Thuringia Bodo Ramelov said that the Russian drug is being actively discussed in Europe.

“I don’t want to register the vaccine for political reasons, but I don’t want the vaccine to be rejected for political reasons,” the politician stressed.

In turn, the head of the federal state government Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Haseloff pointed out that “the origin of the vaccine does not matter when it comes to human health.” He added that he himself was vaccinated with the Soviet polio vaccine in childhood and “considers it absolutely normal.”
