More than a dozen countries have introduced new rules for travelers from China.
European Union (EU) experts this week “strongly recommended” that the bloc’s 27 member states require tests for people flying from China and carry out random checks on arrivals.
Several other EU countries, including Germany, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have already announced Covid-19 testing requirements for travelers arriving from China. The United States and Japan have also made similar demands.
Chinese authorities have said in recent days that the first wave of infections has peaked in cities including Beijing and Tianjin.
But the end is far from near, with officials warning of an outbreak in the coming weeks as people working in big cities return to their rural towns for the winter travel season.
