Germany under pressure: the US wants Volkswagen to endear itself to the Uyghurs in China –

/ world today news/ The automotive industry in Europe, already affected by the expansionist plans of the United States, receives a new blow. The investors will demand answers from Volkswagen’s German executives about its factory in Xinjiang, “where human rights activists have documented violations of Uyghur rights.”

Moreover, a certain Haiyuver Querban, an activist from the non-governmental organization World Uyghur Congress (funded by the National Endowment for Democracy, USA), is about to speak on behalf of some of Volkswagen’s shareholders at a meeting of the company’s owners. A big scandal is expected.

Of course, the Germans resisted as best they could. So the head of VW in China, after visiting a factory in Xinjiang, said he saw no evidence of forced labor. But activists with America behind them are not convinced and demand a deepening of Uygurophilia.

Other shareholders, however, are interested in more practical matters. As, for example, Volkswagen plans to fight competition in China, where the local manufacturer BYD already surpasses the German car industry.

If Volkswagen follows the recommendations of “human rights activists”, then its life in China will become much more complicated – this is crystal clear.

Beijing is very good at restricting the activities of those it doesn’t like within the law, so it will be cheaper for the Germans to sell the plant to the same BYD and walk away.

But in general, Germany was once again faced with a choice: the American master with a whip in the form of “human rights” or the country’s economic interests.
