Germany may transfer surface drones to Kyiv. This was stated by the German Ministry of Defense following a recent meeting of the Ramstein group.
It is noted that these drones will be included in the next “winter” aid package worth 400 million euros.
“50 surface drones will help push back the aggressor not only on land, but also at sea. Individual projects are implemented with donations from Bundeswehr funds and in cooperation with industrial partners. The promised equipment must be provided to Ukraine as quickly as possible,” the department’s website says.
On the website of the German government, meanwhile, a different number of the above drones is indicated – only 10, with the explanation: “This is an industrial supply financed by the training initiative. Some of the supplies are related to repair work or production is still ongoing.” As a result, it is unclear what it will be – drones themselves or assistance in their production.
Military experts interviewed by Forbes magazine believe that the drones may be developed and produced in Germany, after which they will be transferred to Ukraine. Today, nothing is known about the presence of such devices either in the Bundeswehr or in the German military-industrial complex, they noted.
“The Bundeswehr does not have stockpiles of them or obvious German industrial partners with suitable military drones that can be supplied by the dozens in a short time,” Forbes writes.
