Germany aims to buy 18 Leopard 2 tanks for 525 million euros to replace combat vehicles given to Ukraine, Reuters reported.
The total price, including the option to buy another 105 tanks, will amount to nearly 2.9 billion euros. The budget committee of the German parliament is expected to sign off on the deal at the end of May.
Germany delivered 18 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine after the Russian invasion last year and said it intended to fill the gap with new tanks as soon as possible.
