Another “Patriot” air defense system from Germany will be deployed in Ukraine this winter, German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger said in an interview with Ukrinform, BTA reports.
“The situation in the winter can become very difficult. The Ukrainian side did everything possible to prepare for this situation, and we helped in this. I have already talked about our support in the field of air defense. In addition to the mentioned IRIS-T systems, another Patriot system from Germany will be deployed here in the winter,” the diplomat said.
At the beginning of October, the office of the President of Ukraine announced that Germany was working on sending an additional Patriot air defense system.
In mid-November Jaeger announced that Germany would deliver two more IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine by the end of this year.
During his visit to Kiev on Tuesday, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the granting of a new package of military aid to Ukraine, worth 1.3 billion euros, France Press reported.
According to Pistorius, the aid includes four new IRIS-T air defense systems, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2025, as well as artillery ammunition, which Ukraine is in dire need of.
