Germany tightened travel warning for China

This could also affect people “who still have antibodies due to an undetected Covid-19 disease”. The same could apply to travelers arriving on the same flight as a person who tested positive for Covid-19. “Medical measures on the Chinese side are invasive and often include computed tomography recordings in addition to sometimes daily blood samples.” It is also said that unnecessary trips to China are “discouraged”.

The tightening followed on from officially unconfirmed information circulating in Beijing about the admission of immigrants with a positive antibody test, which actually indicates a disease that has been overcome and a possible immunity. In diplomatic circles, one case was heard in which even a traveler with antibodies was said to have had problems with a vaccination.

The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” reported on a German citizen who entered China in January and stated that he had previously overcome a Covid 19 disease. He has been held in a hospital since mid-January for a positive IgG antibody test. The newspaper reported on further cases of a German citizen and a person from another state.

China has largely closed its borders to foreigners since March, but Germans with a valid residence permit can enter for work or family reunification. Holders of expired residence permits can apply for a new entry visa. Various tests are necessary shortly before departure. After arrival, quarantine in a hotel or a central facility is ordered for between two and four weeks.

In a recent survey by the German Chamber of Commerce in China, German companies described entry restrictions as their biggest problem./lw/DP/zb
