Germany. Three jihadists arrested: they wanted to attack the Cologne cathedral

Geopolitical News

Three individuals have been arrested in Cologne by German police on suspicion of being about to carry out an attack at the city’s cathedral. As was explained by regional Interior Minister Herbert Reul, the three were Tajiks who were part of a jihadist cell, and had planned to hit the place of worship with a car loaded with explosives on New Year’s Eve.
The cathedral is currently only open for religious services.
An individual was arrested in Vienna, again following the terrorism alert raised throughout Europe for the Christian holidays.
