Germany takes over Gazprom ‘s state – owned subsidiary

“The government is doing what it takes to secure supplies to Germany, including preventing energy infrastructure from being subject to the Kremlin’s arbitrary decisions,” Habek said, adding that the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) would become Gazprom Germania’s manager by 30 September.

The German holding company Gazprom Germania, which combines gas trading and logistics assets, reportedly left the Russian natural gas group Gazprom last week.

“On March 31, 2022, Gazprom’s subsidiaries terminated their participation in Gazprom Export LLC, the sole owner of Gazprom Germania GmbH,” the company said in a statement.

“On March 31, the Gazprom Group terminated its participation in the German company Germania GmbH and all its assets, including Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd,” the company said.

Earlier, Handelsblatt reported that the German authorities were considering nationalizing Gazprom’s state-owned assets. The federal government wants to avoid the risk of energy supply disruptions in the event of problems for these companies, the newspaper said.
