Germany suspends benefits for non-immunized – World

German Health Minister Jens Spahn and Robert Koch Institute Director Lothar Wheeler.

In the absence of work due to the rules imposed in the pandemic, non-immunized in Germany will no longer receive compensation – no later than November 1, he said. Deutsche Welle.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of health ministers at national and local levels, most of whom supported the idea. Until now, those who were in quarantine and therefore absent from work, they still received their salaries. Employers paid, after which the state compensated them.

And here’s what it’s all about: if someone has been in contact with a patient with Covid-19 or has returned from a high-risk area, in most cases they must then remain in quarantine. And if he can’t work from home, the local authorities pay him his salary, in full (at least for the first six weeks, but the quarantine doesn’t last longer anyway).

Payments will stop by the end of October at the latest

In the state of Baden-Württemberg of these payments it was already over, with Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia announcing their intention to take the step in October, and a number of other provinces declaring the same intentions. Health Minister Jens Spahn also backed the idea ten days ago, given that it only burdens taxpayers, and “why pay if someone hasn’t taken advantage of free immunization, even though they could.”
