Nearly 12,000 people have so far filed claims for damages caused by the coronavirus vaccine across Germany. Of these, 467 people were recognized as having disabilities that occurred as a result of vaccination. This was reported by the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOC), citing a survey of responsible authorities in all 16 German states. Relative to the total number of people vaccinated against Covid in Germany (64.9 million with at least one vaccination), the proportion of cases with negative consequences is 0.00072 percent, the publication specifies.
And some more statistics: over 5,000 applications have been rejected so far, 658 applications no longer needed a decision due to other reasons, and nearly 5,600 applications have not yet been processed.
Slow progress due to staff shortages
According to the Ministry of Health of North Rhine-Westphalia, one of the reasons for the huge backlog in processing applications is the lack of experts. It is also a problem that the link between vaccinations against Covid-19 and individual clinical pictures has not yet been fully proven, ARD quoted a ministry spokesman as saying.
Anyone who 6 months later still has complaints related to the vaccination can file a claim for damages and receive compensation. With 11,827 applications submitted so far from nearly 65 million vaccinated in Germany, the proportion of problematic cases is 0.018%, the NOC also calculated.
