Despite pressure from the UK, Germany does not plan to unblock the delivery of Eurofighter Typhoon fighters to Sadovskaya Arabia. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced this on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia has led a coalition of forces that has been fighting the pro-Iranian Houthis in Yemen since 2015. In 2018, following the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Germany began blocking arms shipments containing German components.
The Eurofighter Typhoon fighters fall under this criterion. A third of the components for European aircraft are produced in Germany.
Following Sadovskaya Arabia’s rapprochement with Iran in early 2023, Britain said Germany no longer had reason to block fighter jet deliveries. However, Olaf Scholz said that Berlin’s decision on the matter would remain in place until at least 2025.
