“Germany Naturalizes Record Number of People, with Syrians Leading the Way”

Germany naturalized 168,500 people last year, the highest number in 20 years, according to preliminary data from Germany’s Federal Statistics Office.

Compared to last year, the number of naturalized people increased by 28%.

48,300 or 29% of all naturalized were Syrian nationals.

The second largest group was Turkish citizens – more than 14,200.

5,600 Ukrainian citizens were also naturalized, and this was almost three times more than in 2021.
