Germany leads EU in terms of refugees arriving this year – EADaily – German News. Refugee news. News Germany. Germany. Refugees. News. News today. Daily News. Refugees from Ukraine. Refugees from Ukraine.

The number of asylum seekers in Germany this year has increased by 57% compared to last year, while a significant proportion of migrants have arrived in the country illegally, Die Welt reported on Saturday 24 December, citing a confidential report by the European Commission and the European Union for External Action.

Since the beginning of 2022, 190,749 people in Germany have applied for asylum, an increase of 57% compared to the same period last year. France is in second place with 115,820 applications, followed by Spain (111,220), Austria (106,554) and Italy (78,897), while Slovakia (382) and Hungary (43) have the fewest applications. At the same time, the data in the report does not take into account information on citizens of Ukraine, since, in accordance with special rules that have been in effect since March, refugees from this country cannot apply for asylum in EU states.

According to the publication, the largest number of migrants came to Germany from Syria (27%), Afghanistan (17%), Turkey (10%), Iraq (6.9%) and Georgia (4% ).

It should be noted that readers of Die Welt were outraged by the data in the report, accusing the German government of ignoring the problem and warning of the imminent “collapse” of the social system in the country. According to ordinary citizens, the reason for Germany’s leadership is the unprecedentedly high level of benefits, as well as a wide range of benefits and guarantees for refugees, which are provided to the detriment of the well-being of Germans.

“In Berlin more than 30,000 people live in shelters, they will never be able to rent an apartment, so temporary reception centers become places of permanent residence. Ghettos appear in cities, entire neighborhoods that cannot be integrated, and their settlement requires enormous financial costs. The government coalition’s migration policy can be described as a fatal mistake.” admitted reader Marcus B.

“Come come. After all, we have everything we need. It gives me incredible pleasure to be able to get up every morning and work slavishly to provide for our country’s guests. It is simply disgusting.” – outraged reader Jan V.

“Reports like this make us think seriously about migration, or rather emigration from Germany. In a few decades, almost nothing will remain of the country that was Germany. Social decline will begin, the welfare state will collapse, and the division between those who profess Islam and others will deepen. The crime rate will rise, the education system will be destroyed, the unemployment rate will break all records, not to mention taxes. Infrastructure destroyed, deindustrialization. A “population” that has nothing to do with the Germans. I would like to save my children from this” – described the future of the German reader Martin W.

According to a YouGov poll released on Dec. 18, nearly half of Germans believe that immigration has an extremely negative impact on the country. According to the study, 44% of the country’s residents believe that the federal government should tighten immigration rules, while only 20% are in favor of simplifying them. Over 60% of respondents described the authorities’ migration policy as ‘bad’, including 28% as ‘very bad’.

This year, Germany will accept more than 1.2 million refugees, including citizens of Ukraine, which is 300,000 more than at the peak of the migration crisis in 2015. Earlier, Germany’s Interior Ministry reported that this year the authorities have already allocated 3.5 billion euros for land and municipalities for the reception and accommodation of migrants, and another 2.75 billion euros will be provided in 2023.
