Germany the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annaléna Burbok, has announced that Berlin will not put obstacles in the way of deliveries of “Leopard 2” tanks from Poland to Ukraine, reports the Russian-language service of the BBC.

In an interview with the French TV channel LCI, the minister was asked what would happen if Warsaw sent these German-made tanks for Ukraine without Berlin’s consent, reports agency “Reuters”.
“This question is not being asked at the moment, but if we were asked, we would not put up any obstacles,” she was quoted as saying by Reuters.
On Friday, the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group at a meeting in Ramstein, Ukraine’s allies failed to agree on the transfer of joint tanks “Leopard 2” to Ukrainewhich Kyiv needs to fight against the Russian invaders.
According to sources, the main obstacle is the cautious stance of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the BBC explains. Some sources assumed that Scholz would be ready to give Ukraine “Leopard 2” if the United States also sends its “Abrams” tanks.
Poland and Finland has expressed readiness to supply its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, but this requires Berlin’s permission. Helsinki will do this if it takes place within the framework of a joint European project. On the other hand, Warsaw, which initially also talked about the transfer of tanks within the framework of an international coalition, later admitted that it could transfer the “Leopard 2” unit to Ukraine even without Berlin’s acceptance.
