IN Every second new coronavirus infection in Germany is probably with the Delta variant, the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases said today, quoted by BTA.
At least 35% of cases of infection are with the Delta variant,
but the figures are from a few days ago and the actual percentage may be 50, said the head of the institute, Lothar Wheeler, at a meeting with health ministers in the German provinces.

In the second week of June, only 15 percent of those infected with the coronavirus Delta variant were infected.
The Delta variant is more contagious than the Alpha variant,
which has so far been the main variant of the coronavirus in Germany. It is particularly prevalent among people who have not yet been vaccinated, among people under the age of 60 and during private gatherings.
Wheeler predicts that the spread of the Delta variant will lead to an increase in the total number of people infected with coronavirus.
