Germany: Films non-stop: Lemke to save the cinemas – home page

Lemke is convinced that cinema owners could make a lot more money if they did it like Netflix and Co. That works well because you can “see the sex scenes you like to see five times”. If cinemas did it like that, the visitor could have a coffee outside in between, shop, flirt and then go back in and keep watching. “That would be a completely new culture.”

Lemke started his career in the 1960s. Its center is Munich. He discovered Cleo Kretschmer and Wolfgang Fierek. Lemke became known with films such as “Brandstifter”, “Rocker”, “Idole” and “Amore”. Most recently he shot in Berlin, for example “Berlin izza Bitch”. In his own words, he submitted the film as a contribution to the Berlinale. The cancellation came last week. “It was the 16th refusal in 16 years. But I always send something.”
