Germany faces Nord Stream, which it is investigating

The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation against an unknown perpetrator for intentionally causing explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines on the bottom of the Baltic Sea near the Danish island of Bornholm, AFP reported.

The agency points out that the federal prosecutor’s office in Germany usually investigates national security threats, such as terrorist attacks, informs BNR.

A spokesperson for this institution explained that the sabotage of the pipelines would constitute an attack on energy supplies and, consequently, on the internal and external security of Germany.

So far, there has been enough evidence to reasonably suggest that the two pipelines were deliberately damaged by at least two underwater explosions.

The same was announced last week by the Swedish authorities, who inspected the locations of two of the four violations, which are located in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone.

Today, Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson officially refused Russia to be included in the investigation, as well as sharing the findings. But you allowed Moscow to conduct its own investigation.
