Germany eliminated at Euro 2020, Joachim Low blames Werner and Muller: Okezone Bola

LONDON – National Team Steps (National team) Germany have to stop at Euro 2020 because they lost 0-2 to England in the round of 16 which ended on Wednesday (30/6/2021) early morning WIB. According to the German coach, Joachim Low, his team could be eliminated because they could not maximize the opportunities that existed.

For Low, in a crucial game like the one against England at Wembley Stadium this morning, every opportunity is precious. So, that’s why since the beginning of the match Low has told the German players to maximize every opportunity that is created.

Low’s words were then able to be applied well by the German players because Der Panzer had created the most goal chances than England. At least Germany was able to make nine goal attempts, while England could only five.

However, of the five opportunities, England were actually able to score two goals through Raheem Sterling in the 75th minute and Harry Kane in the 86th minute. Meanwhile, Germany, who created nine opportunities, could not score at all.

Low also blamed Timo Werner and Thomas Muller who were in charge of scoring goals in the England vs Germany match. Low was disappointed with Werner and Muller for not being able to maximize the opportunities available to score goals.

“In a game like this it’s very important to make the most of the few chances you get. Timo Werner and Thomas Muller unfortunately couldn’t score from the chances they created. So, it feels really bad because we were eliminated,” said Low, quoted from the official UEFA website, Wednesday (30/6/2021).

Werner, who played for 68 minutes, was recorded only able to release one kick against England, which happened in the first half. The opportunity really deserves to be called a golden opportunity because Werner was able to have a scoring opportunity after only a duel with England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Unfortunately the Chelsea striker’s kick was still able to be anticipated by Pickford. Then the same thing was felt by Muller, where the Bayern Munich player was able to score two chances for Germany.

The bitterness of Muller’s two opportunities did not lead to the England national team goal. So, it was because of the golden opportunity that Muller and Werner had wasted that made Low disappointed.

Low was sad to not be able to close his last tournament as Germany coach with a sweet. He actually made Germany fall faster by ending in the round of 16.
