Germany dares to take a position on security policy

The Ministry of Defense in Berlin sees Germany in its role as a “support nation” for allies. This could also be understood as an invitation to Switzerland.

It is a loud wake-up call that the German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and the General Inspector of the Bundeswehr Eberhard Zorn sound. In a position paper entitled “Thoughts on the Bundeswehr of the Future”, they analyze the current threats and want to comprehensively modernize the German armed forces. Kramp-Karrenbauer and Zorn are calling for reliable funding for this. Despite considerable increases in the defense budget, the Bundeswehr is still underfunded.
