The Pfizer / BioNTech preparation showed a lower incidence of cardiac inflammation for this age group compared to the Moderna vaccine, an analysis by the Standing Committee on Immunization (STIKO) found.
The recommendation to use Pfizer / BioNTech in younger people applies to boosters, even if the first injections were made with a different brand.
The committee also said that pregnant women, regardless of their age, should be vaccinated with Pfizer / BioNTech.
The body’s draft recommendation will now be sent to the German Länder and another group of experts for review and possible review.
