Germany coach introduces himself alone ahead of Spain match and players absent from press conference | Qatar World Cup 2022

The players of the German national team were absent from the press conference that preceded the fateful confrontation that brought them together with the Spanish national team, on Sunday 27 November, in the second round of the Group E matches of the “Qatar 2022” World Cup.

After the sensational fall in Japan 1-2 in the first round and the criticisms directed at the players and their coach Hansi Flick, the latter decided to attend the press conference alone so that one of the players would not incur the inconvenience of traveling long distance to reach the media center from the headquarters of “Manshaft”.

Flick said in the press conference: “There won’t be any players here with us. Our journey lasted 3 hours and we have a very important match ahead of us, so I told them I’ll come alone.”

The 4 times world champions have chosen the Al-Ruwais area as their headquarters, and trained in the northern area, more than an hour’s drive from the World Cup media center, where all the special press conferences are held on the eve of matches.

The German Football Association had asked the international federation to be able to hold press conferences, on its pitch, to avoid the inconvenience of more than two hours’ travel back and forth for the coach and one of his players.
