Germany closes half of its nuclear power plants, the others are allowed to run for another year

But despite the renewed interest in nuclear energy in the Netherlands and France, the uncertain nuclear phase-out in our country and the disadvantages of lignite plants, Germany remains determined to stick to the nuclear phase-out. And so today – as planned – three power stations have been disconnected: those of Brokdorf in Schleswig-Holstein, Grohnde in Lower Saxony and Gundremmingen in Bavaria. The last three plants may remain open for another year, but after that it will be over for the German nuclear park.

A decision that can count on approval from most Germans and was not questioned by the new government.
