Chancellor Olaf Solz has reportedly relieved of his duties the finance minister, leader of the Free Democrats (FDP), a party participating in the governing coalition, Christian Lindner, political editor of the “WELT” newspaper Robin Alexander reported a while ago.
Earlier, Mr Lindner had suggested to Mr Soltz that he go ahead with early elections in early 2025, which the chancellor had rejected. The FDP leader is reported to have argued that there is no longer common ground between the government partners in order to achieve a meaningful economic recovery.
According to BILD, Olaf Solz “caught up” with the FDP leader, who had planned to leave the government committee meeting in the chancellery tonight, end the coalition agreement with the SPD and the Greens tomorrow and then withdraw his ministers . “Everything was prepared,” the newspaper reports.
