The EU and NATO member country has ended long-standing military deals with Russia and decided to buy Western aircraft instead. This caused a dispute between the two countries. In response to the criticism leveled by Moscow, the interim foreign minister, Daniel Mitov, stated that Bulgaria “does not owe an explanation to third countries”.
Earlier, at the height of the Ukrainian conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened that he could seize half of Eastern Europe in two days.
