Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens confidently beat outsiders Denmark 2-0 in Frankfurt am Main on Saturday. Both Schindler (4:1 against Wladimir Andersen) and Clemens (4:1 against Andreas Töft Jörgensen) won their singles without any problems. The final double was no longer necessary.

“They weren’t bad, but we were better,” Schindler said. Clemens added: “That’s great. I enjoy playing with Martin.” In the quarter-finals on Sunday (from 1 p.m./DAZN) it is now against tournament favorites Wales. “I think we have a real chance,” announced Schindler. “Oh how beautiful that is” rang out from the ranks.

However, the Welsh duo of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton only got through the round of 16 hurdle in Austria 2-1 and with a lot of effort on Saturday. Former world champion Price won his singles against Mensur Suljovic 4: 3, Clayton even lost Rowby-John Rodriguez 2: 4, which is why a doubles game was needed at the end. Price and Clayton narrowly won this 4:3.
