The European Union plans to isolate Russia financially. While individual transactions are still possible.
German Finance Minister Christian Lindner announced a “complete blockade” of Russian banks and the virtual cessation of business with Russia. The statement was made before a meeting of European finance ministers in Paris, writes Reuters.
“There is already a complete blockade of Russian banks, so business with Russia has practically ceased,” Lindner said.
However, according to him, some transactions are still possible.
Regarding additional financial sanctions against Russia, beyond those agreed by EU leaders late on Thursday, Lindner responded that “all options” remain on the table.
French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire also said that the European Union plans to isolate Russia financially.
“We are going to hit Russian banks. We want to isolate Russia financially. We want to cut off all ties between Russia and the global financial system,” he said.
Recall the night before Britain freezes all assets of a Russian bank with the state participation of VTB and imposed blocking sanctions against the Russian company Aeroflot – flights to the kingdom are prohibited.
