The German government has extended the worldwide travel warning for tourists due to the coronavirus pandemic until at least June 14. A corresponding proposal from the Federal Foreign Office was approved by the Federal Cabinet on Wednesday, according to information from the German Press Agency.
The measure is necessary because strong and drastic restrictions in international air and travel traffic and worldwide entry restrictions, quarantine measures and restrictions on public life in many countries are to be expected, according to a template available to the German Press Agency.
Meuse with unprecedented pace
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas issued a travel warning for all tourist trips abroad on March 17 – an unprecedented step.
So far, such warnings have only existed for life and limb, especially for war zones such as Afghanistan or Syria. A travel warning enables free cancellation of already booked trips.
