“Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD and SunExpress and Electra Airways conclude a three-year contract for flights to Burgas and Varna. This agreement was reached during the world’s most important tourism exhibition ITB-Berlin. Partnership is for sales with a focus on the summer months in 2025, 2026 and 2027. The lines between the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and Germany enter on sale from June 2024 on website: www.sunexpress.com/de, with the first flight planned for the end of May 2025.
During the first summer season, one Airbus A320 will be based at Burgas and Varna airports and will fly to various destinations in Germany.
An increase in capacity and the addition of other routes will follow in the future, depending on the development of demand. This is a very important step for the recovery and growth of the German market for Burgas Airport and Varna Airport. With the sales concept, marketing and distribution know-how of SunExpress and the reliability of Electra Airways, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management JSC is confident that it has a strong partner in the German market that will support its recovery.
Already this year, TUI Germany returns to Burgas Airport and Varna Airport after a more than 10-year hiatus with direct flights from Hanover.
In addition, new routes from/to Burgas Airport for the first time will be carried out this year from Tashkent (Uzbekistan)Pristina (Kosovo) and Porto (Portugal)which will contribute to the attraction of new tourists from unknown markets, after the serious decline caused by the withdrawal of tourists from the Russian Federation and Belarus, which made up a significant percentage of the tourist flow in the years before the war in Ukraine.
